With barely a frost, let alone any snow, it’s definitely not going to be a white Christmas this year 😦 There’s also not much in the way of gold, frankincense and myrrh (it is England after all!) but I struck gold with this little chap; a Goldcrest, the UK’s smallest bird. Goldcrest in a holly tree with berriesMore usually found in pine forests he was a welcome visitor to our garden a couple of weeks ago. I’d like to claim that years of fieldcraft and endless hours of patience in an uncomfortable hide allowed me to capture this – but I’d be lying! Truth be told it was fortuitous timing and an upstairs window 😀

‘Tis the season of goodwill; here’s to peace and understanding in this mixed up world ….
