I actually set out to photograph spiders! Realising I needed a stepladder to get what I wanted but not having one (and already looking a total geek!) I turned my attention to the bridge I was lurking under and it’s near neighbour.

Barely 50m apart and united by the River Avon, the intervening 100 years or so between their construction means that they differ in virtually every other aspect.

…. even the spiders only occupied one!
